Anonymised Plates From Ordinary Jobs

The archive uses anonymised examples and reconstructed labels, not client secrets. It shows the kind of working evidence a shop owner gets from a count, audit or compliance round.

Three Ordinary Findings

01 Convenience store refit baseline, task NEW 07. Shelving had moved overnight and the till file no longer matched bay order. The practical decision was to count in the new walking route first, then reconcile the spreadsheet after every two bays.

02 World Food range audit, task RNG 06. An independent grocer had two duplicate facings and one imported sauce line missing after a substitute delivery. The practical decision was to mark the substituted line separately so the owner could update the supplier file before reordering.

03 Winter confectionery promotional bay check, task AUD 03. A farm shop had the correct offer strip on the bay but three reserve cases in the back room were not on the live file. The practical decision was to add the reserve cases to the report note before the next weekend promotion.

Expanded field note

The Bilston Refit Count

In 2021 a Bilston grocer needed a stock file before Monday opening after a refit weekend. The count covered 5,842 lines while two new chillers arrived earlier than booked and the shopfitters were still moving end bays. The crew split the work into front shelf, chiller transfer and back-room hold stock, then reconciled each bay before the next trade moved through it. Final variance was under one per cent by Monday opening. Martin still calls it the neatest ugly job we have done.

Why The Archive Looks This Way

01 Client names, staff initials and supplier-specific prices are removed.

02 Figures may be rounded where the exact number would identify a shop.

03 Labels are reconstructed so the working method is visible without exposing commercial information.

04 Archive plates are not legal valuation documents.
